I am an artist who came to art late in life. I grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts in the 1970s, and although I loved to draw, my focus was more on playing sports, basketball, baseball, and spending time fishing with my dad. Art ran in my family; my grandmother was quite skilled with pastels, and I had two uncles that were oil painters. I remember watching them paint as a young teen and the smell of the thinners and oils are still vibrant memories for me.
As I grew older, I kept sensing that there was something missing, and started to explore creative outlets. I helped raise four daughters during this time and most of my efforts to find a creative outlet were exploratory and short-lived. About six years ago, I took an introductory lesson from a local artist, and really felt creative wellspring awaken in my heart and mind. Ever since, I’ve been growing as an artist, and I’m excited to share my art with friends across the world and patrons here in the United States.
I keep learning through various classes and trial and error, trying new techniques and letting my heart do what it wants. I find it enjoyable to take techniques from various mediums and apply them to a different medium to see what happens. I’ve surprised myself a few times with how well that turned out.
Art is not just about the finished product, but the journey we take to get there. I hope you enjoy the journey you take as you look through my art and feel free to reach out with any questions.
